Day 2 - Wow Our Feet Hurt!

What a beautiful day yesterday was! After going to bed last night at 9 PM (or so) and sleeping until 9 AM (or so) we ate a nice breakfast and got ready for the day! I think that we have acclamated well to the time dfference - a 12 hour sleep will do that! We took the lightrail, and then the train to Circular Quay (pronounced "key) yesterday. This is where the Opera House is. What a magnificent place! We did a 5 mile walking tour around the area. We also toured the Opera House. This area is where the first farm was for new settlers to Australia. We saw a chair that was built into the sandstone in the early 1800s for the governor's wife. We saw a warfe for Navy ships. We walked past a pool that was built in the 1960s in the same place a pool, made from the ocean water, was for men back in the day. The men used to swim naked there until women were allowed in the early 1900s. We walked around a very old part of Sydney - great little buildings, but kind of a scary place - and then through the Botanic Gardens. This place was amazing! Until we came across these trees with bats hanging in them. Lots of bats. Big bats. Ugly bats. We rushed out of there!!! Then we went to lunch - a very expensive lunch - with bad service. But we were starving and needed water badly! After this lunch (at 3:30) we toured the Opera House. This place is huge! The story behind it is pretty incredible to. The plan for the building wasn't originally chosen. Then, the plan was to have it complete in 3 years with a $7 million dollar budget. It was completed some 16 years later after spending over $100 million. The inside reminded all of us of a church. It's pretty incredible. Now we're getting ready to have some chicken on the barbie (aka BBQ). Here are some pictures from today!
