Why I Don't Post Often

We've been busy! Dave and I continue to work on the house. Yes, me too! We are remodeling the basement now. There are a few things upstairs that still need to be completed, but those can wait, or we can do those as we work on the basement.

Here's what we've done:

*We've (and by "we" I mean we hired someone) to rough-in a bathroom in the basement.

*We've (again, hired) someone to put in a window in our laundry room - there used to be a window there, but was removed by previous owners for the dryer vent. They replaced the original window with plywood and a little insulation.

*We (Dave and I) tore down our deck and hired our friend to remove the concrete steps. Our plan is to build a screened-in porch next summer!

*The same person we hired for all this work (a good friend of ours - Matt Hanson!!) also removed a "baby basement" window and put in a real window. Most 0f our basement is not below ground, so we can put a window in.

2 weekends ago we insulated our attic. With all the work that we did upstairs (moving and removing walls) we lost a lot of insulation! OH MY GOSH! This was a huge job! Dave and I did it ourselves and we spent about 10 hours on it. This attic is a crawl space. Our knees were hurting when we were done!

So what's the plan now? We just finished demolition on the laundry room. We removed shelves/cabinets that were useless, tore out the drop ceiling tiles and removed the sheetrock and framing. This was a good thing because most of the framing was rotten. Not because of water in the basement, but because the person who framed the house did it incorrectly. We've also unhooked the washer and dryer (local friends, can we use yours??) and now we need to clean all the walls (with bleach), paint, frame and sheetrock the walls. In the meantime, I need to look at models for laundry rooms so that we can put a layout plan together.
